Mission Statement

The mission of MNCBIA is to advocate for the building industry and to maximize business opportunities for its members

Structure

The MNCBIA is a non-profit trade organization chartered by the State of Maryland, and which has been granted tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(6) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.

The Builder and Developer members are engaged in single and multifamily building, land development, remodeling, rehab and renovation and general light construction. The Associate members are companies and individuals who provide materials, products, financing and many other services, including subcontracting, to builders and developers. MNCBIA members employ more than 12,000 of your friends and neighbors with businesses that provide products and services that go into the design, construction, purchase and renovation of a home. They are engaged in numerous community service projects, including numerous charitable and community outreach projects.

The Association is governed by an elected Board of Directors, which directs policies and operations of the Association according to its Bylaws. An Executive Committee is the policy, finance and steering committee of the BIA, and oversees affairs of the Association between meetings of the Directors, subject to actions of the Board. The Officers are charged by the Bylaws with specific duties.

A professional staff is retained to implement Association policies and to carry out the work of the Association, major elements of which are advocacy and community relations, education and training, communications, meetings and programs, administration of BIA business affairs, management aids and materials and many other types of membership services.

Established in 1954 as an affiliate of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), MNCBIA has a five-county jurisdiction in Maryland including Calvert, Charles, Montgomery, Prince George's and St. Mary's and the city of Washington D.C.  It is additionally affiliated with the Maryland State Builders Association (MSBA).

Members of the MNCBIA automatically are also members of NAHB and MSBA. Together, the three Associations (local, state and national) form one of the nation’s largest and strongest trade organizations, as befits an industry of such fundamental importance.

Together, the Associations comprise the only organization working around the clock exclusively in the interest of residential builders and developers.

Association Vision

The Maryland-National Capital Building Industry Association strives to create an environment in which residents in suburban Maryland and Washington D.C. have continued access to the housing and communities of their choice and the opportunity to realize the dream of homeownership
